Once again, Greenfylde First School entered the South West Primary Engineer competition – If you were an engineer what would you do? and this year we were thrilled to have 3 out of the 12 regional winners and many highly commended. We were lucky again this year for our annual sports week – the first we have been able to hold on the Recreation Ground since 2019. Friday saw the whole school celebrating the Platinum Jubilee. We enjoyed a flag parade after designing our own crowns and shared together in a Jubilee picnic on the field. Dancing to songs from the Queen’s reign, we were able to share these with the Ilminster Mayor Cllr Taylor and we ended our day with a tea part. Lots of fun

We are immensely proud of our gymnasts. This week, for the first time in two years, we took part in the South Somerset Gymnastics competition. Our team of Year Three and Year Four children overcame their nerves and performed brilliantly, many of them achieving a personal best. Children out to save our World was a theme as youngsters from Greenfylde First School, Neroche Primary and St Bartholomew’s First School came together for the annual Ilminster Rotary Public Speaking Competition for 4 to 10 year olds Young Voices. Started five years ago, the competition gives younger children the chance to talk on a given topic for 2 minutes.
